Spectacolo project
In the theatre, except for the protagonists of a performance (the actors and the theatre director), there are also involved several different professions such as light designers, sound designers, experts related to demand and live streaming broadcasting, video art technicians, stage and costume designers, makeup artists. These professions are vital for developing a high-quality performance that will have the potential to contribute to the increase of the local economy and the internationalization of the theatre offers, primarily through the use of new digital technologies. However, in all these professions, they rarely not receive vocational education related to theatre. Light designers are usually electricians; costume designers are from the fashion sector; the people responsible for broadcasting, where they exist, are people with some ICT skills, etc. However, theatre performances have specificities and require specific skills to be successful and attract local people, tourists, online viewers, etc. The people dealing with these professions in a theatre context usually learn on the job, which requires a lot of time and effort. After covid19 pandemic, with the increase of online theatre performances and the increase of the use of digital technologies in the creative and cultural sectors, there is an ample opportunity for people working in the theatre sector, especially in Africa but also in Europe, to increase their reach through the internationalization of their theatre production.
The project aims to develop the theatre-specific skills of specific theatre professions, modernize the vocational education offered to theatre professionals, and increase the contacts of VET and the labor market in theatre professions. To do this, it will identify the knowledge, skills, competencies, and attitudes of each profession in a qualification profile and develop a curriculum based on these competencies. It will organize an international online course involving 50 students from all countries to develop their skills for these professions.
The partnership synthesized with organizations from European and African organizations. They are the Centre of Higher Education in Theatre Studies-Greece (Coordinator), Action Synergy SA – Greece, DAH THEATER-Serbia, BAYIMBA Cultural Foundation – Uganda, Mashirika Performing Arts and Media Company – Rwanda, University of Cape Verde – Cape Verde.
